Premier League Predictions: Week 6
West Ham vs Tottenham Predictions
The hammers got a bit of a reprieve with a hard-fought, yet good point at The Hawthorns last week. Shaven Bilic will be proud of his charges as they went to the Hawthorns which is hands down one of the most difficult grounds to visit and come away with something and they did.
Now they will shift their attention to their lunch time kick off London derby against Tottenham, knowing that anything other than a loss will continue their renaissance, and will definitely be up for it but in Spurs, they will be coming up against a very functional, efficient and solid side that will not hesitate to put you away at the slightest sign of weakness.
Being a derby, it’s going to be an evenly contested encounter and the hammers will make a fist of it but I just think that the visitors will have too much for them in the end.
Everton vs Bournemouth Predictions
Ronald Koeman will demand a response from his players after an insipid display saw them get on to a hiding at Old Trafford last weekend as Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth roll into town. The Cherries will be buoyed by their home win over Brighton, one that ended their miserable run of four straight losses which was their worst start to a premier league season since their promotion a couple of seasons ago.
This will be an extremely competitive game as the hosts will want to make amends for last week’s dismal showing while Bournemouth will want to kick off a decent run so as to steer clear of an early season relegation battle so I think it will end in a draw.
- Manchester City vs Crystal Palace Predictions
Pep Guardiola’s men are absolutely on fire at the moment, having scored eleven goals in two league games and conceding none, but make no mistake about it, City’s backline is not as solid as it looks on paper, their ruthless efficiency in attack has masked those concerns for now and they will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing one of the league’s worst teams in Crystal Palace.
The Eagles lost their first game under Roy Hodgson, albeit giving a gutsy performance, but all is not lost, and I think they will be fine under the tutelage of the former Internazionale, Fulham, Liverpool and England boss but their revival will have to wait a little bit longer as City will be way, way too strong for them.
Southampton vs Man United Predictions
The Saints earned a hard fought point at Crystal Palace but they still have a long way to go, and they have their work cut out as they welcome one of the league’s in form teams so far.
United have absolutely destroyed all but one of the teams they have face this season and that can be attributed to the fact that Jose Mourinho has made them more functional defensively and more ruthless in front of goal, as they have plenty of goal threats across the pitch.
The Saints will definitely give the twenty time champions a hard time but they are too lethargic infront of goal to trouble a well drilled United side whilst the Red Devils are solid in defence and formidable in the final third themselves.
Stoke vs Chelsea Predictions
The Potters were their usual selves away from the Brit at the Sports Direct Arena: Lethargic and devoid of ideas, and they lost, unsurprisingly so, but they will be back in their enchanted domain to face the reigning champions who overcame an opening day blip to string together a wonderful run of three consecutive wins, a run that ended at Stamford Bridge last Sunday after being held to a draw by Arsenal.
Mark Hughes has turned the Potters into a wonderful football team that is tactically flexible and easy on the eye as well, and have the ruthlessness to punish defensive mistakes at home, as they displayed against Man United and they will definitely be up for this game: and they relish playing against the league’s elite at home!
This game has the hallmarks of being an extremely physical encounter and as much as Chelsea have the upper hand in this game quality wise, I just feel that Stoke will set themselves up in a similar shape to the one the gunners employed with great success at Stamford Bridge, and have the tools to hurt the blues as well.
Leicester vs Liverpool Predictions
The draw at Huddersfield last weekend favored the terriers more than it did the foxes as the premier league newcomers are flying so far, Leicester will have to pick themselves up as a wounded Liverpool will be in town.
Both sides can be a joy to watch going forward and love playing on the break but they also make way, way too many defensive errors for comfort and this has been their undoing, and Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp epitomized this be remarking that he’s sick and tired of Liverpool’s abysmal defending.
Leicester have been formidable at home while Liverpool have been shaky away from home but with both teams desperately in need for an improved performance, I will go for a draw here.
Arsenal vs West Brom Predictions
The gunners were nothing short of brilliant at Stamford Bridge: strong, composed and industrious. I was one of many who gave them no chance at Stamford Bridge but they proved me wrong with a solid performance in a game they could have won and deserved to win, but the million dollar question still remains: can they give such a performance for 20 not more games?
The Baggies meanwhile were held to a stalemate at home by a struggling Hammers side, but make no mistake about it: they are compact organized, disciplined and can and will be a handful to any side away from home as the gunners will find out on Monday night.
The baggies frustrated Arsenal in the corresponding fixture last season and narrowly lost and I expect the same game plan and outcome again this season.
